“No. Absolutely not. What even—?” The thought was so abhorrent I couldn’t hold it in my head. My brain spat it right back out. “To your brother.”
Xichen blinked. Again. “To Wangji?”
“Obviously?”
“This is a concern of yours?”
“I realize it’s not my business at all,” I admitted. “But you asked.”

Wei Ying laughed. “Oh, no, no, no. I’m just A-Ying.” He’d once told Auntie Zhao that his mother and father had given him the name ‘Wuxian.’ She’d reminded him that servants did not have courtesy names, and that he shouldn’t reach too far above his station, in case someone took exception to it.
“‘Just A-Ying,’” the woman repeated.
He nodded. “Are you lost? I can lead you back.”
“Do you like helping people, A-Ying?”

It’s 2 PM on a Tuesday and Jin Zixuan is curled up in the corner of a dingy basement laundry room, tears in his eyes as he struggles to understand why the universe—and this washing machine in particular—hates him.
And then the door squeaks open, and Zixuan’s only reaction is to stuff his face into his stupid quarter-zip like a cashmere fleece turtle.
“Is someone in here, or is the laundry room haunted again?” A man’s voice calls, and it’s almost jarring how friendly it is.“Again?” Zixuan hiccups.
Footsteps on the tile, and then there’s a man frowning down at him with open concern. “Aw, bud. Are you crying? Me too sometimes.” And he pops a squat, right there in front of the sad turtle man, and Zixuan gets a close up of the riot of tattoos on his arms and peeking through the gaping rips in his jeans. “I’m Wei Ying.”

Amazing story!! Almost everything from her I have enjoyed, and the ones I haven't are well written but were difficult for me. This one is turning to be one of my favourites!!! I almost never read stories in progress but hers are worth the wait between chapters!!!
