Summary
In 2015, when Max first joined F1 as a fresh-faced rookie, the pack shut him out because of the wrongness and temperament that existed on him like a second skin. In 2025, Max has mellowed out and the pack, specifically the rookies, begin coming to him. Whether they are tired, angry, hurting, or unsure, Max never says no. He doesn’t weigh the risks of involving himself with a pack that doesn't claim him; he only registers that someone needs something, and that he knows how to give.
Layered on that, Max has a secret that the pack doesn’t know nor understand but they begin to circle it. It lives in the way he goes still when certain voices drop, in how his eyes glaze when praise lands too heavy, in how he never asks for anything and how every so often he'll disappear and return as a ghost.

Summary
Max Verstappen learns early that survival is a helmet covering the softest parts of his face, a silence you don’t test, a love you earn by being compliant. Years later, the grid decides he’s too violent to be accepted, until the small wrongness of Max's actions begin to stack, and someone finally looks long enough to see what’s been hiding in plain sight. This is about the shape of a childhood you can’t outrun, and the terrifying and fragile beginning of Max being met with more instead of less.
Ok I was inspired by the song "forwards beckon rebound" by Adrianne Lenker so I wrote this using the lyrics to illustrate the progression of Max being abused all the way into F1 before the other racers begin to notice and eventually try to save him. It has the lyrics woven throughout, and if this isn't something your interested in, just ignore the lyrics they aren't really a big part of this and it can be read entirely independently from the song.

Max thought his hormones would have evened out at some point. That he would reach a stage in his life when he wasn’t perpetually turned on but that time had not yet materialised. What had materialised was free internet porn, a sizeable dildo and a handy bottle of lubricant that he always had tucked away in his luggage.
Honestly the money he spent on his private jet was worth it. No long queues at check in. No annoying passengers to make the flight unbearable. Best of all, he could pack his suitcase with more sex toys than he would ever need. And if that wasn’t worth millions of dollars he wasn’t sure what was.
