Summary
Old threats are rearing their heads, the world is on the brink of destruction, and Shadow's very being is becoming something he doesn't recognize. Yet all he can think about are questions that aren't even relevant to the rising threat. When had he stopped hating every appearance of royal blue or when that annoying voice called out his name? When did he start looking forward to the sparring, the races, the constant push and pull of their dynamic? When did he start appreciating that the hedgehog existed? Why did those feelings change to this disgusting content that Shadow didn't know what to name?

Then his eyes caught movement behind Knuckles.
A shadow. Long, jagged spines silhouetted by firelight, swaying with each deliberate step. Smoke curled around the figure as it approached, using an overturned car like a ramp, metal shoes hitting the car with solid, thudding force.
Sonic’s mouth gaped as another hedgehog stood before them, black with red stripes, a scowl and red eyes. He looked so… cool.
And strapped to his chest was– Sonic’s entire brain stopped.
“Is that a baby!?” Sonic shouted in disbelief.

Shadow's standing there. Like, presumed-exploded-in-space-and-extremely-dead Shadow. The one Sonic hasn’t stopped thinking about for over three weeks. He's standing there, in all his black-and-red glory– a bit scuffed up but alive. Sonic can't do anything but gape, frozen in place.
Shadow looks similarly shocked, his eyes wider than Sonic has ever seen them. "It's you," he says, distant surprise coloring his tone.or, Shadow survives the Eclipse Cannon explosion. Sonic couldn't be happier. Shadow himself isn't so thrilled.

Now he must assist in Sonic's hunt for the Chaos Emeralds, alongside aiding some small Koco in their own quest. This dark hedgehog has learned a lot from his time in White Space; can he sustain what he will come to grips with in Cyber Space?
