Summary
It’s a classic English summer day on move in — pissing it down lightly, slivers of sunlight between the swaths of clouds. Charles promised his parents they didn’t have to come for this move, that he could do it himself, though he has started to regret that gesture now. The rain just makes it miserable, and the eager first years who have already moved in are being too much of a nuisance this early in the morning.
The only downside to their new dorm, Charles thinks as he piles his trunks on top of the trolley, is that Max is also living here.

Summary
Charles was a flight risk; he knows that is why Daniel has him on a metaphorical leash. He had seen a version of drunk Charles before, during the handful of nights where their worlds overlapped, but usually that was someone else’s problem. More often than not, it would be Max’s problem.
But tonight, covered in candlelight, surrounded by expensive flower installations and marble architecture, by the hum of a string quartet, wearing a gold band on his left hand’s ring finger, it was not Max’s problem. That fact alone was the root of all Charles’ problems.
OR: Max gets married and invites Charles to the wedding, bad decision.
