“Now, Der-bear, don’t be rude,” Laura says.
Stiles looks up and grins, his tongue slipping through his teeth. “Yeah, Der-bear,” he says, eyes twinkling. “Don’t be rude.”
Derek sneers at him, and Laura bursts out laughing. “Oh, I think I’m going to like you,” she says. “Stiles, you say? I’m Laura, Derek’s sister. It’s simply wonderful to meet you. I trust that you’re taking care of my brother.”
“Definitely,” Stiles says. “I brighten his day with the products of my exploited, unpaid child labour.”
Laura gives Derek an admonishing look. Unpaid child labour is her Achilles heel. “Derek, this poor boy,” she says, and sweeps Stiles into her arms. Over her shoulder, Stiles winks at him, and then his eyes widen as he accidentally gets green paint on the back of Laura’s blazer.
Unfortunately, from that moment on Stiles and Laura are as thick as thieves. Derek just ends up with a dumbass green cat.

“Can I tempt you to the floor for this dance?” The flirtatious tone rouses him from his dire musings, and Derek turns to see his husband.
“I’m afraid not,” Derek says, gentling his tone to take the sting out of the refusal. Stiles’ smile tightens, almost imperceptibly, and he nods graciously. He’s used enough to such rejection, Derek thinks with a pang. He’s used to lonely dinners as well, and going to sleep alone when Derek has late nights, and listening to vague excuses because the real reasons are ones he cannot know. Derek hates to disappoint him, tonight as ever, but he needs to be available for the other spy to pass him the information, not whirling about on the dance floor. The revolution must come first, until Lady Katherine can be imprisoned for her crimes.
Derek strives to believe that the day will come soon.

The wolf’s head whipped around so fast, Stiles felt like he was watching The Exorcist.
Stiles wondered if he could just stand still enough to make the wolf think he was a tree. A very bright red and jean-clad tree. He doubted it, but one could hope.
He knew it was a lost cause when the wolf turned fully, lips pulled back from its sharp teeth—so very sharp, good fucking Lord!—and began walking towards Stiles.

“Because,” Stiles went back to stirring the pot after he dipped his pinkie into the imaginary liquid. “Every time we play House, Derek says I’d make a good, little wife.”

A few things happened in very quick succession once the potion had left Stiles’ hand.
Derek brought it up to his eyes to look at it, shook it a little and uncorked it.It took Stiles a couple of delayed moments to notice two very important things. The first, being the iridescent colours that danced across the top when Derek shook the potion. The second, that the room had started to spin around him.
From very far away, Stiles registered the calming potion in Derek’s hand, transparent where it should have been blue.
Derek brought the potion to his lips.‘Wait-‘ Stiles started. Then, the room still spinning, he collapsed in a dead faint.

Stiles is hallucinating.He cracks open an eye. He's floating… no, not floating, because he's bouncing up and down, horizontal-like, the skyline above the trees growing closer, then more distant. There are hands holding him upright, cradling his upper back, his thighs. There's a face hovering above him, with a shock of black hair, and although Stiles is having problems focusing, the person looks good. Insanely, inhumanly good.
Stiles never wanted to be the recipient of the basilisk's venom, but now that it's coursing through him, he admits it's some top quality shit. Absolutely fucking primo.
"Wow." He breathes, trying to enjoy the moment.
"Stiles?" The person holding him bends closer, their eyes flashing a bright blue.
Stiles shakes his head. He knows those eyes, remembers their unnatural, electric color. "Dude?"
The godlike specimen huffs. "It's Derek. And don't call me 'Dude'."
Stiles is pretty sure his mouth is hanging open unattractively. "We really need to talk," he manages before finally passing out.

He’d just set it back down when the door opened, and a shadow appeared in front of him, taking the seat across from him. Jackson’s name was on his lips as he rose his gaze from his drink, but the word stuck in his throat, because it wasn’t Jackson.
“I’m really sorry, can you be my boyfriend?” Derek asked breathlessly, panic on his face and looking seconds away from losing his shit.
Stiles didn’t even have the chance to reply, because the second he saw crazy lady walk into the coffee shop, he just immediately leaned over the table and planted a kiss right on Derek’s lips. The other man seemed startled, but he recovered quickly and brought one hand up to press against Stiles’ cheek.
He made sure to keep the kiss short, and relatively chaste, because this was all for show and he didn’t want to make Derek more uncomfortable than he already was.
