This is a deep dive into an OC story of mine. I will be using character Clove (Took) Dwalinsdottir to explore my take on Tolkiens Dwarven customs, traditions, and politics, with a heavy focus on the rebuilding of Erebor post-BOFTA. Clove is, of course, just a fan-made character, so forgive her qualities if she feels too Mary Sue.

“You did choose right,” the second voice mused. “How very curious.”
There was a deep sigh, or rather the sensation of one. It wasn’t really clear where or how it started, but there must have been one for everyone present to understand the reality of something doing the sighing. And when that fourth not-voice spoke, it was entirely directed at the figure dripping blood onto the proverbial (and very literal) carpet.
There is much I wish to discuss with you, my champion.
The figure scowled. Swiping a hand over his face to remove the worst of the blood, he straightened up.
“And I have a fair bit to discuss with you, I’d wager,” Ori spat. “Starting with why you’ve been talking to me for the last five months.”Or: how Aragorn became king, featuring the Valar and countless acts of great stupidity.

I'm going to fight Thorin for you, but even if I lose, you are always my sister. I would sooner stop being a dwarf than stop being your brother."
Can exploring caves land you in a hobbit's pantry? It happened to Sara Miller. Taken from the 21st century, she must navigate through middle-earth to find a way back home. But to do so she will have to understand why the Valar have sent her in the first place, something even Gandalf does not know. All Sara wants to do is return home so she can resume the search for her family but now she is stuck going on this insane quest.
Why are wizard's so capricious? Thorin has first hand experience with one, namely Gandalf. Thorin is determined to reclaim his home in Erebor for his people and was even prepared to accept a hobbit on the quest. But now Gandalf insists that if he wants his help he must allow a woman from another world into his company as well. But just because the wizard brings her along doesn't mean Thorin has to play nice. Who is this woman anyhow and why is Mahal's mark on her hand?

Beryl Baggins was not looking for an adventure, had no need of an adventure, and had no problem telling thirteen dwarves and that confusticating wizard what they could do with their offer of an adventure until they dropped a humdinger of a surprise on her.
This madness started as a oneshot to show precisely how a 'feisty female' would react to pesky home invaders. As you can see, it did not stay a oneshot. At all.

Okay here we go; The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey featuring Vana, my OC.
Vana is a human girl who was taken in by the dwarves of Ered Luin after Thorin Oakenshield found her abandoned on the road with no memory of who she was. In the ten years since she has yet to remember a single thing, however she has proven herself a worthy companion of Durin's folk and has subsequently been invited to join the quest for the Lonely Mountain. The fact that she is secretly harbouring feelings for the youngest Durin prince may also have something to do with why she was so eager to join but that's need-to-know only.
