Summary
Harry was carefully moving furniture, dispatching more than one boggart under a sofa, until he was standing in front of the family tapestry.
“This thing alone,” Harry said, sighing.
Andromeda looked up and over. “Oh. Yes. That alone would catch flame nicely,” she said, and Harry grinned at her before turning back to the tapestry.
Harry shook his head. “On the one hand, it’s such a piece of history. On the other . . . “ he trailed off.
“It’s vile?” Sirius offered, and he saw Harry nod out of the corner of his eye.
“Andromeda is blasted off, of course. Tonks, too.”
Andromeda nodded.
“And of course you, Sirius,” Harry started. But then he said, “Oh. Oh,” and leaned forward for a better look.
Something in Harry’s voice made both Sirius and Andromeda turn around. They exchanged a quick look, but Sirius shrugged at her.
“Harry?” Sirius ventured. “You know I’ve been off the tapestry. Have been for ages. And you knew since you first got here, what, three years ago?”
But Harry leaned forward even closer to the tapestry, and Sirius saw him reach out a hand and carefully brush a finger across it. “There’s a new name,” he said softly. “One underneath yours, Sirius.”
