“Then,” Kaoru begins, peering directly into his webcam over the edge of his spectacles, “you simply leave me no choice. From now on, we shall only communicate through mail.”
Kojiro nods, sticks out his hand to shake as they often would when challenging one another. “The first one to text, email, call, or reach out any other way online, loses.”
“That sounds reasonable,” Kaoru agrees, “Furthermore, we must put visible effort into our postcards or letters, and respond directly to the previously received message.”
“Deal.”
And with a final virtual handshake, both men seal their fates.

Maybe it was a dream, a figment of his imagination curated by his favourite fantasies, of living a life with his greatest love, of being able to go home and be greeted with a kiss and a hug, of fond bickering resolved with the immediate knowing that it was threaded with love and trust.
And now it seemed, as Kaoru stepped out and was welcomed into warm arms, arms that wrapped around him and held him close, close enough for soft lips to press against the top of his head, he had it.
Because he could feel everything.
The spark of electricity up his spine, the warmth where their skin pressed together, Kojiro’s heartbeat against his own body.
Nothing about this was fake.
But it couldn’t possibly be real.

Kaoru Sakurayashiki does not need a lover, thank you very much. All he needs is Carla and his shitty drama and reality dating shows. So why does he find himself spending a month in a house with nine other men, all looking for "their infinity" in a new prospective reality show? And why is his estranged childhood friend here as well? He should have never agreed to this.
I watched 10 minutes of Netflix's "The Boyfriend", blacked out, and was suddenly writing this.
