Summary
Springdale was named after spring for how beautiful it dresses for the season. Every year, without fail, you could look at the cherry blossom trees to herald the incoming good weather-branches absolutely full to burst of delicate flowers, vividly pink as only theirs were, cloaking the town in it's own kind of warm snow. There was almost a sense of pride, in keeping track of the cherry blossom front to know when their town would be at it's most beautiful.
So it was with a great deal of confusion that Springdale saw its cherry trees blossom, full and proud, one hot mid-summer day.
(Cherry blossoms last around a week after peak blossom production. It seems so much longer to Nate, and unlike the Yo-kai who share his opinion, he doesn't have the excuse of time disparity between worlds)
Or: The stretch of time between the Yo-kai leaving Springdale, and their return.

Summary
Oh, nothing weird ever happens in this town—anyone you ask will tell you as much. Mysterious problems put to order without a fuss, spooky rumours put to ground before catching on...
Oh, did they all talk to a kid right before? It's so hard to recall—it wasn't like he stood out in any way, after all. He probably was just passing through—slipping off their mind as easily as he slipped through the ever-shifting crowd.(Yo-Kai Watch drabble collection!)

Summary
A series in which I write a lot about Nate because he's my favourite and everyone else's *least* favourite so I decided he deserves some love.
What you can expect is: consistent characterization and lore! Me exploring Nate's bonds with Yo-kai! Cross-referencing OG canon as much as possible so that if anyone ever tries to tell me "this is totally OOC" I can happily point to the episode I drew my conclusions from!
What you shouldn't expect is: Characters that don't have a Yo-kai Watch in anime canon getting one! Me writing Jerry as a character! Me acknowledging the dumb FF Enma plot twist! Me treating my faves like ykw treats theirs! (The bias is so obvious is not even funny (: it's also obvious that Nate is the only protag who isn't a fave so part of the reason I like him more than the others might be out of of spite haha)
These ficlets aren't part of an overarching story or anything, so feel free to cherry pick. I love the OG but it had plenty of weak spots even before the sequels, and I'm RARING to patch them up.
I do think Yo-kai Watch has lots of unrealized potential, so I'm going to try putting these thoughts into motion, bring in some game plotlines and characters...hehe.
Enjoy! :D

Summary
“Okie-dokes.” Kuroba shakes himself, and then turns to wave at the waiting group of suspects and witnesses with a reassuring smile. They stare blankly at him.
“They’re traumatized, Kaito-san.”
“I know. That’s why I’m being nice.”
Shinichi grabs Kuroba’s jacket and starts yanking him toward the group, ignoring his annoyed muttering. In Kuroba’s defense, he’s very good at looking reassuring. It’s just a lot less effective when he’s standing next to the corpse.
——————
When a magician seemingly murders an audience member in the middle of a show, no one but Conan can even begin to figure out all the tricks of this case. Naturally, Megure talks to Nakamori, who recommends the one and only magic expert that he knows: Kuroba Kaito.

Bookmarker's Notes
Shinichi only met the Kurobas once, when he was eight years old. It was at some kind of charity function that his mother was invited to and her teacher was performing for. While the adults had gone off to do whatever, Shinichi spent most of that function hiding under the banquet table with eight-year-old Kuroba, who kept showing him card tricks and getting him to guess how they were done.
He’d liked Kuroba. The memory is hard to grasp, but Shinichi has plenty of experience in filing through his years upon years of flashbulb-perfect memories. He’d liked him, as much as that distant younger version of himself could like anyone that wasn’t named Ran. Kuroba had been a funny little kid with a magic obsession and a weird streak that matched Shinichi’s, the kind of weirdness that happens to you when people start staring at you open-mouthed and calling you a child prodigy.
But more importantly, Kuroba had kept up with him. That had meant more to little Shinichi than any of the card tricks or dumb jokes.
Kuroba had wanted to stay friends, and Shinichi had begrudgingly agreed. Their parents had been ecstatic about the whole thing. Apparently, they’d wanted nothing more than for their boys to be friends. It had been kind of sweet, in a way, if only because he’d never seen his parents so thrilled about something so normal before.
Then Kuroba Toichi died onstage a few months later and the Kurobas went up in smoke. According to Shinichi’s mother, they cut off most of their contacts and just… faded into obscurity. One last magic trick. One last vanishing act.
Until now, apparently. Shinichi guesses there are worse places for a Kuroba and Kudo reunion. It’s got their two favorite things: murder and magic. Hurray.

Summary
"Jumping contest?"
"No. Fishing contest?"
"No. What about a race?"
"Nuh uh."
Killua thought he knew what was really going on here: Gon had seen through his attempts to spare the other boy's feelings. Opposition was his way of silently insisting that he didn't need to be coddled, and so what if Ging turned out not to care about him? Finally knowing that for sure wasn't going to change the fact that he'd sworn to track the man to the ends of the earth. Really, it was no big deal.
But it was a big deal, and Killua would do anything he could to spare Gon that burden.
Of course, it was equally likely that Gon just really hated losing.

Gon and Killua argue about where to go next.
