Summary
When Jaskier is young, he is sold to a slaver to solve his parents' problems with money.
He ends up at the royal court of Tretogor, a gold-collared bedslave, reserved for the royal line. Unlike the others, Jaskier doesn't settle into his fate, but rebels in what little ways he can.
It's no wonder then, that when the warlord of the north visits Tretogor for negotiations, Jaskier finds himself in the middle of it all.---000---
His mother's face is sad, and Julian wishes more than anything he could change that. She tucks a lock of his soft brown hair behind his ear.
“Remember how you said you wanted to help?”
Julian nods.
“There’s someone who… is coming to take a look at you. If you do well, we’ll get enough to pay the rent that’s still due. If we’re very lucky, we’ll get enough to buy back the farm.”
“What do I have to do?” Julian asks.
A tear tracks down his mother’s cheek.- Language:

Summary
Paddy and Bill are snowed in together in a ski chalet in the French Alps. This may be the only thing that can get them to admit their feelings for each other.
Which they do. But they fuck about it first.

Summary
So when Paddy, crossing the Place des Vosges one late summer afternoon, caught sight of a familiar, lanky figure reclining on one of the benches there and felt the old spark of interest light him up again, he was taken by surprise but he was not surprised. After all, he thought, he’d always quite fancied Bill Stirling.
Bill and Paddy meet for the first time before they’re ready for each other. The spark is there but everything else is wrong. They meet a second time and then a third but it isn’t until years later when their paths cross in Paris that they are both in a place where a relationship between them might work—if they can let go of the hurts and tragedies of their pasts and embrace the possibilities of a future together.

Summary
He found, to his surprise, that he actually missed the sight of Bill Stirling slouching towards him across war-torn villages, his face like a thundercloud. He missed their sparring, missed the brief, bright flare of true companionship between them and the promise it had held. Which was perhaps why, when Bill wrote to him at the Ayrshire camp, a letter sent from his estate barely thirty miles away, Paddy took the letter to a private place and read it carefully. And then, almost without meaning to, he wrote back.
Bill and Paddy strike up an unlikely correspondence in Scotland which survives the war and lasts for years. As their friendship strengthens and deepens, as it teeters on the dangerous edge of something more, they help each other through difficult times and hard decisions and realisations about who they truly are, until, in the end, they find their way back where they belong.
With each other.
