“I’m never disappointed when I see you.” Boothill allowed himself this small moment of honesty.
Dan Heng stared down at him. Did he lean closer? “I was disappointed. Himeko and Mr. Yang told me you’d found us, out there, and left as quickly as you helped. You didn’t wait.”
“Did you want me to?” Boothill asked, feeling distant.
“Yes.”
Boothill is forced to come face-to-face with how he felt about finding Dan Heng and the Trailblazer post-Iron Tomb fight, and Dan Heng is all too willing to help him deal with the answer.

Boothill stares at Dan Heng in stunned silence for a moment, scanning his face for… anything. A twinkle in his eye that showed he may be joking, a crinkle in his brow to show that maybe he was putting up a front and wasn’t as fond of the idea as he was making himself out to be…
He finds nothing. Some surface level nerves, yes, but nothing to tell him that he shouldn’t go through with this. Which was a good thing, because while Boothill had been mostly joking, he had to admit, the mere idea of Dan Heng cuffed to a bed had all sorts of clicking sensations ticking away in his chest.
Without another word, Boothill makes quick work of stuffing his stolen cuffs into a pocket, before taking Dan Heng’s hand and pulling him away from the shop front they had been loitering around.
They would need somewhere more private for this little experiment, after all.

"You told me you loved me." Dan Heng said with his eyes trained his book.
"What!?" Caelus shoots up too fast for his own good. "What did you just say?" He spun around to sit facing Dan Heng, who had now taken his eyes off the page to glare at Caelus for messing up his reading. "Did I do anything else?"
"You kissed me—"
"I did what!?"
"—but that was also partly me aswell."

One idle day, Dan Heng decides to resolve his boredom by inviting Stelle to check him out (basically). Out of curiosity about something, he shifts into Imbibitor Lunae, only to experience some anxiety when Imbibitor Lunae's garb is tighter on him than expected. Stelle comforts and soothes him, lavishing attention on his body to help him be comfortable with himself, and he savors the moment.

Were Estinien to ask, he would gladly let him burn his flesh, to leave a permanent mark that signals who he belongs to. Yet he is far too gentle for that, and Aymeric is content with the lovebites he's always left with after a night together, fleeting though they are.
There's a moment of silence, of Estinien gazing down at him with so much love it hurts. He clears his throat.
"Can…" Estinien starts, quiet, perhaps hesitant, his thumb mindlessly stroking over his bare hip, "Can I call you a girl?"

"Dan Heng," she whispers. A lump rises in her throat, as she clutches tightly to him. He smells of home.
That's where she is — home.
The Astral Express family reunite again, and slowly begin to recover after the events of Amphoreus.

Aymeric has struggled to find his place in life. It certainly wasn't staying with his noble family and being married off for a political alliance. But the military wasn't quite right either, even when he thrived both in combat and strategy. He did, however, meet a dear friend in his time at the barracks.
A dear friend he had to leave behind when he decided to instead pursue a life of piety.
Now settled into his assignment with a nomadic caravan, Aymeric decides to write a letter to Estinien, hoping to reconnect with the one person that ever made him feel like an individual rather than a pawn in someone else's game.

"Although I know you hate any kind of festivities," Aymeric wrote in his letter, "I'd be delighted to see you for them."
Estinien arrives for the ongoing celebrations for the Firmament, but he barely recognizes Ishgard in the wake of the Final Days. Children run and laugh in the streets. Gentle music and the smells of freshly-made food fill the air. Artisans from all across the star peddle their wares and help repair homes. Moogles dance in the fountain square. Some dragons have taken up craft trades.
This isn't the Ishgard he knows. This is an Ishgard built on the backs of people who never stopped trying to make things better, like Aymeric, or Haurchefant, or even the Lady Iceheart. This is an Ishgard of their hopes and dreams. Estinien does not belong here.
The dragoon nearly leaves as soon as he arrives, but then he comes across a suspicious, costumed figure: The Azure Elephant...
