He stepped out into a small tea shop through the back door, in the disguise of a younger teen. He made sure his appearance was as un-noticeable as possible, his clothing beige and almost invisible against the interior. He was not here to be seen, he was here to watch.
Hua Cheng took a quiet step forward, and then heard voices from around the corner. Had there been breath in his lungs he was sure it would have rushed out, and had his heart been beating he was sure it would have stopped. His steps hurried and he rushed forward to the corner and peered around it… and there he was.
There he was.

'I'm the prince; you're my servant. I give orders and you follow them. That's how it works.'

Summary
The sob that escaped him was a tiny thread of sound, little more than an embellishment upon the air. He did not wail. It was too big for that, too much, all the more painful for being unexpected. Not Arthur's betrothal, but his own reaction to it. It was as if all the nebulous uncertainty of the day had crystallised into a blade.
Worse, he had no one to blame but himself. He had never told Arthur how he felt. It had always seemed like a step too far, and now it was too late.
Tomorrow, he would pick up the pieces of himself and find the strength to bear the scars of it. He would be the friend Arthur needed, and he would pretend that was enough.
Tonight, he mourned.

When Arthur announces his courtship to Lady Aveline of Spirehold, Merlin resigns himself to never speaking of his love. Yet the universe has other ideas. “And he’s not Merlin?” Morgana asks, crossing her arms.
“Shut up, Morgana,” Arthur says heatedly, feeling the flush settle awkwardly in his cheeks. “Merlin isn’t my soulmate, so there’s clearly something severely wrong with him, and I just haven’t figured out what it is yet.”
Or: It turns out that Arthur's soulmate Emrys is a dodgery old sorcerer. No one is happy about this, least of all Arthur, who has to come to terms with the facts that he's bound to someone with magic and that his inconvenient attraction to Merlin won't lead to anything at all.
So he thinks, anyway.

Summary
Merlin cannot lose Arthur. And he won’t. What if he had called Kilgharrah a little sooner? What if he had been able to save Arthur’s life?
Would we finally get the Albion we dreamed about? An Albion where Merlin is the court sorcerer, sitting proudly at Arthur’s right on the round table? Where Merlin is respected, where magic is finally free? After all, we were promised this from the very start.
Arthur has begun to see his manservant in a new light. Will their relationship change when Arthur finally notices the depths of Merlin’s devotion?
Or, alternatively,
The story that will attempt to fix everything we did not get in canon. Featuring Merthur being gayer than canon, and an absence of Guinevere.
