Krypto was a good dog. He knew he was, Kal-El let him watch the television sometimes and Krypto saw what good dogs do. They greet their humans enthusiastically, share meals with their humans, sleep with their humans! And Krypto is enthusiastic about Kal-El, he jumps on him and licks him and tries to play with him! But, Kal-El didn't seem to like any of that, and seemed to not like Krypto. That was fine. If Kal-El didn’t want Krypto around, it was okay. Krypto loved Kal-El enough that he’d go away to make him happy, even if he didn’t want to.
Or: Krypto really misunderstands his owner's behavior and seeks out greener pastures. Now, no one had ever claimed Gotham of all places was "greener pastures," but Dick Grayson was the best little human a dog could possibly ask for, and Krypto wants to keep him.

“Okay, whose fault is this really, though? You didn’t have to tell me that Damian put it together, or that Bruce was looking into it. You could've left well enough alone and let me hang. So like, you’ve made this an ‘us’ problem,” he reasoned.
“Oh, no. No, no, no. No. You are not blaming this on me! I’m not the one who’s spent ten years avoiding Batman, only to fuck his middle child and gaslight his youngest! You are asking for this, mister, and I am not bailing you out.” She concluded her tirade by popping a sick wheelie and booking it back over to her computer.

“Hey now, I am young at heart!”Jaskier has begrudgingly agreed to accompany Geralt to Kaer Morhen for the winter. He has not, however, agreed to being up front about his true nature. Meeting the family is stressful enough without the threat of a painful death.
