Summary
Tails, Nine, and Mangey have been abducted from their various settings and forced to participate in a mysterious gameshow. The premise? Fight or be killed. Compassion and mercy are not allowed. Only by defeating enough opponents will you be allowed the ultimate prize: Your freedom.
The three have a unique opportunity to be permitted as a team for the gruesome game... If every member is on board with the idea, that is.
This is the second part of a three arc story. It is not necessary to read the first arc in order to understand/enjoy this one (the tone and premise are very different, though they are in the same continuity). The arcs are written in such a way that you can read each standalone and/or in any order, but reading all three will provide additional context.

Act 2, let's go!
I love how we slowly understand more of what Mangey says, for a while tails could only understand a few words.
And the dance scene was so good, absolutely adorable.
Also, it was great to get a subtle hint that Tails was also odd, wanting to go straight into a boss fight. Since yes! Tails is used to going fight after fight, but man the others are not. The longing gaze is so funny.Very excited to read the next act!

Summary
Tails, Nine, and Mangey wake up in an unfamiliar, technology-devoid forest with no memories of their past or how they got there. A mysterious force is causing further memory loss, blackouts, and unusual aggression among the forest inhabitants. The three foxes must work together to overcome these obstacles, restore their memories, and find their way back home. Nothing is as simple as it seems, and escaping the forest might only be the beginning…
Switches POV by chapter between Tails, Nine, and Mangey.

The alternate timelines from Sonic Prime (New Yoke, Boscage, ect) still exist, but the actual plot of the show never happened- No Sonic impacting Nine and Mangey’s lives, no awareness of alternate versions of themselves. Characters from the main timeline (Tails, Kit, ect) are more aligned with their video game/comic canon. All of the characters have aged into young adults, so they may have slightly different looks and personalities to reflect this passage of time.
[Edit: 3/15/2024] The work title and summary have been updated. Was previously called "Three Tails."

This is so so so good. Underrated gem!
The author has nailed the different perspectives all feeling unique to each other, and I don't dread hearing from any of them. The dialogue between the characters is also perfect, especially Tails, I can read his lines in his voice.
There's a whole mystery element too and I actually need to keep reading to find it out.
I just know I'll be sad when I finish this.

Incredibly cute, I loved their little races they did together. I played escape from the city while reading the races and it really set the vibe. I might be delusional but I swear there was some silver/espio crumbs. I love them.
Actually, I checked the authors other fics and there is an espio/silver fic set in the same universe! Only winning for me.

“Are we making a wager here, hedgehog?” Shadow asked, suddenly coming to his attention at how hard his heart was racing compared to the peacefulness his mind was in.
The grin on Sonic’s lips stretched further, and it was suddenly brought to Shadow’s attention how even more attractive someone could be with confidence. (A confident Rouge was someone Shadow had gotten used to. Sonic, however, was new.)
“Is it really a wager if I know I’m going to win?” The blue hedgehog questioned right back, leaning in and prompting Shadow to subconsciously turn so that he was facing the blue hedgehog.
Face to face and noses brushing, it came to Shadow’s attention that he was really, really, screwed.
or team dark's mission had to be put on hold when their helicopter crashed, and a blue hedgehog crashed into Shadow's life like how the helicopter had crashed. Hard.

Holy shit this was good. There was a whole mystery around Sonic that genuinely had me theorising for those chapters! And my (second) guess was somewhat close! It's incredibly rare that I read something that set up that mystery so well.
The writing style was beautiful and not hard to read. Rouge and Amy were wonderfully written, all the characters were.
Also Espio was a prominent character! This made me wish Shadow and Espio had more interactions, unexplored duo in canon! Any fic with Espio and Team Chaotix is great in my books.
Happy ending thankfully, glad that tag is there or I might've been panicking in those final chapters.
