Summary
Five years. Five fucking years and you still can’t unsee it. After Miguel’s death, Javi rarely came home and if he did, he was rarely sober. He poured all his time into trying to catch Escobar, to get back at him for taking your son. Meanwhile you sat at home, alone, frightened, and unable to sleep without waking up screaming and trying to find your son. Eventually you couldn't do it anymore. You flew back to Laredo with nothing more than a note for when Javi returned. You weren’t even sure he would notice you were gone.
You had your back turned to the bar when you heard your husband’s voice. “Tequila on the rocks, please.” Like he didn’t see you, didn’t realize it was you. Maybe he really hadn’t noticed you’d left five years ago.
Or, Early into his career, Escobar as your son killed. You both grieve in different ways, but somehow keeps coming back to each other.
