Summary
Volo never cared much for what other people wanted, but as he felt the warmth of Akari's hand in his and saw the brilliant light that radiated from her smile, for a brief moment, he wondered if she would want to be a part of the new world he planned to create.
Volo teams up with Akari to collect the plates and complete the pokedex so he can meet Arceus, but when he reaches the Hall of Origin, his encounter with the god doesn't go the way he thought it would.

Akari has been exhausted for a while and Volo has noticed. During their travels Akari follows Volo deeper and deeper into a forest, with the promise that they will find the last plate they are looking for that will allow Akari to go home.

Jubilife's sudden newcomer is many things: sullen, avoidant, determined not to make any friends. She demonstrates incredibly advanced expertise when it comes to catching, handling and battling pokémon. And, let's not forget to mention, she fell right out of the sky.
With such a fascinating (and potentially threatening) profile, it's really no surprise that Volo takes such an interest.

Volo stilled, unresistant and pliant in her hands. She had the chance to take in his appearance in the low-light of her cabin; he looked the same as always, or at least how he did before Mount Coronet, wearing his hair in a low bun with his fringe sweeping over one eye. He still wore his old Ginkgo uniform, even though his association with the Guild had officially ended when Ginter, acting as a representative, had publicly condemned his desertion to the Security Corps. Bathed in the warm, orange light, Akari could make out faint swelling and redness under his fringe, alongside the dark circles shadowing his visible eye. It was strange to see him looking so unkempt: he used to put so much effort into looking pristine and put together, even in the wilds beyond Jubilife.
“Forgive me for seeking you out like this,” he started, all too casual for a person who’d just committed breaking and entering, only to assault the cabin’s resident, “but I didn’t know where else to turn.”
