Hermione stutters and Harry can almost feel her blushing through the phone.
“That isn’t what I meant and you know it.”

In this fanfic, Newt is an obscurial but he has control of magic. The Obscurus is still there, not separated from his body as of yet. It’s more powerful than Credence’s but Newt still has control (let’s just say he’s like an Animagus). He wants to help Credence since the boy faced the same things as Newt. They were both men who were abused by their mothers, their siblings who oh so wanted to help them ease their pain. But Newt has escaped his pain, and now he wants to help Credence. But once Grindelwald unleashes his torture upon Newt, what will happen once Newt brings back his old power to defend, not only himself, but the boy behind him from the true monster.

Newt's on his way back to London, the ocean liner has taken off, its smooth sailing. He can stay in his cabin with his notes and creatures and not be bothered by anyone else on board. It's going to be a long three weeks but he doesn't mind the alone time with his beloved creatures, especially after their trip to New York, they could all use a bit of silence. And silence they get.
Until a knock on his door wakes him one night, some time after twilight, and he comes across a shock of his life.

When Five is four, his powers are new and unwieldy. It's no surprise that he gets lost, but it is that a blue box appears in the alley, awash with the same blue energy that Five knows as his own. She tickles in the back of his head, warm and present and inviting. He asks her if they can be friends. She says yes.
She shows up again. And again. Five grows up with blue at his fingertips and the ability to jump through time and space. He grows up sneaking out and dodging the TARDIS's madman with his many faces, folding himself under a variety of consoles and talking for hours with his first and only friend.
He's twelve when he asks her if he she thinks he can time travel. He's twelve when she says yes, and shows him how.
He's thirteen when he leaps forward and something is terribly wrong and the blue energy twists and screams because time is wrong and he's jumped into a future that should not be. The energy might not obey but there's another way.
He calls, she answers.

Virgil isn't used to things being... intimate with the others. He's not used to being close to them, to being friendly. He's certainly not used to being cared for. It was much easier to keep his secrets when they didn't care about him, when they brushed him off as the villain and he had to scream and play the bad guy to be heard. Now, however, they're all inching closer and closer and that means they're dangerously close to seeing all of him. That includes the pieces he's intricately hidden away.
It starts with Thomas--because who else could it be?--and it all seems to fall apart from there.
Maybe it's not so bad.
