It was like Robin had taken half his soul with him when she’d stormed out of their apartment two Saturdays ago. Like she’d packed her duffle, snagged her jacket off of the counter, and ripped his arms off on her way out the door. He didn’t feel like a whole person anymore.
One of their coworkers at the coffee shop had called them ‘unhealthily codependent’ once. Steve thought he understood what they’d meant now.

Summary
They’re quiet, then, breathing in each other’s exhaled air and exchanging it with their own. It would be romantic, if it was 1985. If Steve hadn’t yet known the feeling of taking a punch by a man trained to throw them. If Steve was still a puppet of a person, too big for the body he was born into yet too small to try to crawl out of it.
But it’s not, of course. It’s 1987, and he still sees the swirls of the Starcourt ceiling when he closes his eyes. It’s 1987, and he still cries when Back To The Future comes on.
It’s 1987, and his best friend is leaving for college in the morning.

Three days after Vecna, Robin tries to kiss Steve. Tries to be something he deserves. Someone who can fuck him, be with him. Something better, a good person like she isn't. She tries to not be fucked up. Steve doesn't let her.
If only for a moment they are wild and cold, faces up to the unreflective sky, just a boy and a girl holding hands watching the stars as the wind tugs and pulls them, kindly cruel in a way that mends.
Maybe they don’t need anyone else, she thinks, maybe they can stay there until the wind strips them to their bones. She wouldn’t mind dying if it was with Steve.
He turns to her and she thinks he might kiss her but then he’s just holding her against his chest and it feels like such an impossibly mean thought to have about Steve, to even think that he might do that to her, that she starts crying. Sometimes she thinks she doesn’t deserve him and he doesn’t deserve how she thinks about him. He’s just so much good sometimes Robin thinks something must turn for the worst, surely King Steve isn’t all gone, surely at some point he’s going to reveal himself: he was making fun of her the whole time, trying to make her normal.

He nods in compliance.
“His fucking sister!” Debra exclaims in anguish. “If you were a serial killer, would you kill me and then parade my goddamn fucking half naked corpse?-”
No, I wouldn’t... At least not the half-naked parading anyway.

Summary: Dexter has always felt like Pinocchio. A little wooden toy wanting to be a real boy. But he never could. He has these moments when he wins and everything is golden and glorious. But then it crashes and he’s left to pick up the pieces on his own.
He is strangled in the strings of fate. It’s all Pinocchio dreams.But maybe he just hasn’t realised that it has already come true.
