    Summary

The Tourney at Ashford Meadow was meant to be a means of smoothing public relations for the Crown. In some ways, it was a success. In others, an utter, abject failure. For Jena - formerly of House Dondarrion, wife of Baelor Breakspear - it was a tragedy, ending in inconsolable loss.

No one expected things to go the way they did. Yet, as so many witnesses to history would attest, no one ever does.

He sketches a different version of her, one that isn’t quite human. It is massive, with spindly limbs, and Renoir imagines it leaves flower petals in its wake when it moves.

What to name it? Renoir thinks for a moment. He does not know his muse’s name, only that she calls to him like a siren.

A history of Renoir and Aline's relationship, through the development of Sirène.

    Summary

The Jordan scholars’ common room was beautiful and glittering, sumptuous and magical. The mantels of the two large fireplaces were decked with garlands of holly and laurel, and a frosted spruce-, pinecone- and berry wreath hung in each window. Merry centrepieces adorned the coffee tables: flickering candles garnished with small evergreen wreaths, red tartan bows and golden jingle bells. The vases on the side tables had been filled with pine-, juniper- and cedar sprays and crimson poinsettia flowers. The cosy winter-knit throw-blankets draped over the backrests and the festive tweed throw cushions scattered here, there and everywhere made the sofas and armchairs look even more inviting than usual, and the large plate of Christmas biscuits on the sideboard was making kitten Pan’s whiskers quiver greedily.
