He wants the joy of seeing Lan Wangji trapped beneath his weight, forced to concede the fight. He wants to taste sweat and blood in his mouth, and see Lan Wangji do the same.

Summary
Thirteen years is a long time to spend grieving for a dead man. Even longer to realise that the ache you feel inside your breastbone won’t go away, no matter how hard you try to move on.
The seasons - they come and go, years start to blur together and Lan Wangji finds himself lost in moments like these ones, looking out the window of the Jingshi towards the night sky. He swallows down the lump in his throat, eyelids weighted and scratchy from too much emotion that loving a dead man brings.
Still, he waits with the hopes that one day the universe would be kind enough to return to him the man he loves.

The Jiang Tech prodigy falls into an arrangement of mutual bedroom favours with his so-called nemesis, the second Lan heir, assuming the odds against them are high enough for complications like feelings to never rear their head. It takes a particularly wretched intervention for him to realize just how naive he had been.

The place on his chest where the resentment pierced him begins to throb painfully. Wei Wuxian breathes heavily against his ear for half a moment longer, and Lan Wangji feels himself flush.
