“Death is not pleasant in any case, you mentally ill bastard.”
I gaze at the ceiling absentmindedly.
“Maybe mine will.”
Chuuya replies by kicking me. “If you die, I'll fucking kill you.”

Chuuya stumbled, swore, and then scowled at Atsushi accusingly. “Take it from me, kid. Soukoku’s just a story they tell to scare young mafia recruits. That shit’s not real.” His voice was light, but Atsushi could hear the bitterness lurking beneath it. “I was never really that bastard’s partner, not for one goddamn second.”
“Dazai seems to think it was real,” Atsushi said softly.
