The man hovering over him leaned back, releasing Grian completely. Cold night air rushed in to fill the void.
“I guess it’s out in the open now,” the stranger hummed. “Shame. I wanted to avoid this.”
With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.
This man wasn’t a civilian, wasn’t even a hero.
“Hello, Doctor,” the villain mused. “You were quite the help today.”

Tommy grinned in their general direction. “Fine, toss me your card and let's get this over with.” Tommy held out a hand, and Wilbur somewhat reluctantly handed it to the other.
It was dead silent in the whole place as Tommy swiped the card.
Then the machine beeped, lighting up with a little red light in the corner.
The entire bar erupted with hoots and hollers, laughing and pointing fun at Wilbur, whose card declined the transaction.
Tommy handed it back with a small smile. “Sorry Wil,” he said, not feeling the slightest bit sorry. “You’re maybe two million short.”Wilbur’s eyebrows shot up on his head. “How much was that single Bloody fucking Mary?”
