Summary
Katsuki throws an annoyed look at the clock. It's way past 2am now and that means it's way past his bedtime but Shinsou is still not home and that means Katsuki can't go to bed.
Usually he wouldn't wait up for him—he'd never get any sleep like that, with Shinsou being an underground hero—but Katsuki knows that today was a special mission, one that made Shinsou worry for days before today and in Katsuki's experience special missions tend to go wrong one way or the other.
So, he's waiting up.

Summary
Hitoshi comes to a surprised stop when he reaches the kitchen though because he might as well have walked into a bakery.
He sees two different cakes, a mountain of pancakes, some waffles and if he isn't mistaken then Bakugo is just putting some cupcakes into the oven.
Well, fuck then, Hitoshi bitterly thinks because he knows what this means. Bakugo is a stress-baker if he's ever seen one and so this can only mean one thing.
Bakugo didn't mean it and now he's freaking out about what he said last night. This is exactly why Hitoshi has never brought that first moment up ever again, because he just knew that he was imagining things, that Bakugo doesn't want that and even though it has now happened twice, it still clearly doesn't mean shit.
Fuck.

"Are you deaf or just stupid?" Bakugo's cutting voice interrupts his musings and Hitoshi somehow manages to drag his eyes up to him.
"Tired," he slurs out and then falls forward, until his head rests on Bakugo's stomach.
"So let's get you upstairs so you can sleep in your bed and not propped up against me," Bakugo sighs out and Hitoshi must already be asleep, because there is no other explanation for the hand in his hair.
"'s not safe," Hitoshi mutters and feels how Bakugo sighs.
"I'm here, aren't I? It doesn't get safer than that," he gives back and maybe he's right.
Yeah, he has to be right, Hitoshi thinks, because Bakugo is one of the top three heroes and if he says it's safe then it must be.

"You still doing patrols?" Bakugo wants to know and Hitoshi wonders where this sudden interest is coming from.
"Here and there," he vaguely gives back because with all his deep undercover missions he barely has time for patrols these days but that's not something he can say.
No one in this room has a high enough clearance for him to even admit that bit.
Bakugo narrows his eyes at him and Hitoshi is confused to see them blaze with anger.
"And you think that's enough?" he hisses out clearly upset by something but Hitoshi is long past allowing others to rile him up.
"If not I'll pick up another job somewhere, what's the big deal?" he shrugs, knowing damn well that it's only going to enrage Bakugo further and just like predicted Bakugo's face clouds over with anger.
"Underground has made you weak," he almost coldly says and now that, Hitoshi can't let stand.

Summary
Hitoshi expects Aizawa to come forth like a wraith or maybe Tokoyami, who has kept him company every now and then but when Bakugo shuffles into the communal room, Hitoshi blinks in confusion.
Bakugo keeps to a strict sleeping schedule and he gets highly irritated if something disrupts it so it's beyond rare to see him down here at—Hitoshi quickly checks his phone—three thirty in the morning.
He watches how Bakugo moves further into the room, dragging his feet like a zombie and it takes Bakugo an embarrassingly long time until he seems to notice Hitoshi.
Bakugo freezes when his eyes fall onto the couch and Hitoshi can see the tension flowing through Bakugo's entire body.
