Summary
Xie Lian and Hua Cheng have been best friends since childhood, the one person Xie Lian could always depend on. After high school, Hua Cheng leaves, asking Xie Lian to come with him. Xie Lian declines, scared of holding him back. Hua Cheng visits, and Xie Lian is always happy to have him sleep on his couch, and sad to see him go. His feelings, a crush which has grown into unrequited love, stay hidden.
Until Hua Cheng comes back to handle his father’s death, and everything changes.
______________________“Hua Cheng, here to see my father,” Hua Cheng said as they stepped up to the counter. Xie Lian stood close, their fingers brushing.
“Oh,” the mortician said, nodding as he looked over at some papers. When he looked back up, his gaze landed on Xie Lian. “And he is?”
“I’m Xie Lian,” he answered with a polite smile. The mortician frowned, looking over at Hua Cheng.
“Only immediate family can come into the back with the deceased,” he said sharply. Hua Cheng’s brows rose, and then his left hand grabbed Xie Lian’s, their fingers tangling together.
“He’s my husband,” Hua Cheng said, and Xie Lian felt like his knees might give out.- Language:
