Summary
There’s a faint hum in the air. Not a sound exactly— more like pressure. Magic resting low and quiet, the way heat does before a storm.
This happens every month, for a week.
And Wally will never get used to how meticulous Dick is with the items— clothes, especially— he keeps.
Wally leans against the doorframe, arms crossed loosely. No rush. No announcement. He’s learned better than to break moments like this.
Dick reaches for another item from the pile beside him. This one’s older. Worn soft. Wally recognises it, belonging to someone who isn't here anymore. His husband hesitates, then places it closer to the pillow, adjusting it until it sits just right.
Only then does one of his ears flick into existence.
Just for a second.

“Let’s be real, Dick. There’s only one person in this family you’ll listen to and–”
Before she could finish explaining Dick was at her side, his hand around her wrist stopping her from what she was about to do.
“Don’t.” he ordered. Babs was taken aback by his tone. Dick never talked to her like that. Dick never touched her like that. She yanked her hand away in defiance– but she didn’t patch through her call to Bruce.
Babs Gordon knows something is up with Dick, but she can't figure out what since he's insisting he is fine. So she enlists the help of (most) of the BatFam in figuring out what the oldest sibling is going through and needs support with.
But he's the one making it hardest for them to help him.
