One could argue it was a good way of escaping the life you once lead, full of beginnings and new opportunities. A way of leaving behind your past. Columbina tried to ignore these correlations.
Such novelties didn't apply. And, no one would convince them. Surely.

Shizuku does it whenever it’s time to go home. Shizuku kisses her cheek whenever she needs to go home first after practice. Shizuku kisses her cheek discreetly when she got a perfect score in a report for class.
Despite that, Airi always puts her hand on that spot on her cheek, that warmth resonating from that side of her face to the palm of her hand and to the ends of her fingertips.
