Izuku doesn't know why he keeps having the dreams. The ones where his favorite pro hero Todoroki Shoto is there, where he acts like Izuku matters. All he knows is that he doesn't want them to end, even if he knows none of it is real. After all, why would a pro hero like Duality ever look twice at a quirkless analyst like him?
OR: Izuku keeps meeting Shoto in his dreams. He never expects to find out that they're real.

Izuku's mother side of the family has an interesting history.
_On a journey to prove that he can be a hero even if he's quirkless, Izuku Midoriya—now known as Izuku Kamado after taking his mother's family name has to face many challenges as a demon slayer and a hero-in-training.
From being haunted with the burdens of the past to forming friendships, mending broken ties and finding his way back into the arms of a love from once upon a time, to making sure he doesn't lose anymore people dear to him.
Along with the threat of history from long ago might come to greet them once more, Izuku will have to truly step up to fight for the duty that comes with wielding a Nichirin blade alongside his cousins.
Like the warriors from many years ago, fight and win or die trying.

Summary
About a week after that, All Might asked Izuku if he was aiming for the hero course at UA. The question was so sudden that Izuku nearly dropped a microwave on his toes.
The truth was, if All Might had asked him that a week ago, there would have only been one possible answer to that question. All Might had gone to UA, UA was the best, so Izuku was going to go there too, if he could. But things were a little different, now that he was going to receive All Might’s Quirk.
“No,” he said, decisively.
All Might looked caught off guard, which was a very rare expression on him. “No?” he echoed, like he couldn’t believe it.
A laugh bubbled out of Izuku’s throat. He honestly couldn’t believe it either. “No,” he repeated.

Or, All Might tells Izuku about All for One before he gives him One for All, and everything changes.

Just like every other day, Izuku mumbled up a storm and about fifteen minutes later (a drastic increase from the measly three minutes he would have gotten in their first year), Katsuki turned to him and snapped. "Shut the fuck up nerd! I can barely hear myself think!"
And Izuku's jaw practically sealed itself shut. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't open his mouth to speak. Thankfully, he wasn't called on during the lesson, but that didn't mean he hadn't tried to participate. He just couldn't.

Izuku is hit by an obedience quirk, and he wonders who exactly he wronged in a past life to deserve this much bullshit.
