“Um, how are you feeling? I tried to treat you as best I could, but I’m not a doctor, obviously. Ha, ha,” there’s an awkward pause. Avery hates awkward pauses. “Oh uh- my name is-”
“Avery,” the knight interrupts.
Avery blinks at him. “You, uh, you know my name? Sorry, do we know each other?” Avery hadn’t recognized him.
The knight shifts. “...Do we- I don’t…” He takes a moment to continue, “...I know you.”
That’s not ominous at all. Avery feels a little caught off guard, here. “Right… I don’t recognize your armor. What’s your name?”
The knight takes a beat to respond. “I don’t… I can’t remember what it is.”
Avery raises an eyebrow - well, the slime above his left eye. “You remember my name, but not your own?”
“...Yes.”

After the information overloads his brain, D3rlord3 can’t remember anything. Except for Avery.
Avery just wanted to get away from the city server for a bit. He finds a guy passed out in a mine he didn’t make.

Summary
Confronted with the knowledge of the entire universe, Atticus (d3rlord3) has one goal left- keep The King from getting his claws on the silly slime that has no idea what’s coming.
But both of them realize something is wrong when Atticus can no longer remove his armor, and Avery is getting more feral with every incident.
The King has power mortals could never dream of. Atticus was never meant to survive the “gift” He’d given him.
Now the two of them have no choice but to work together and figure out what’s happening to them- before they both fall to pieces.

“You want to throw my laptop off a cliff.”
“Or smash it. Or set it on fire. Or all three. We can workshop it.”
There’s another quiet laugh, but it doesn’t quite stick the landing. Avery hears the hesitation creeping back in, curling around the edges of D3r’s voice like fog.
“In person,” D3r says, not quite a question.
“Yeah,” Avery says easily, like it doesn’t make his stomach flip. “In person. I wanna meet you.”
The words hang between them.
He watches D3r’s character on screen because it’s easier than imagining D3r’s face doing whatever it’s doing right now. The avatar doesn’t react, of course. Just stands there in the pixelated grass, the moon casting a pale square light over his shoulders. Avery imagines he can see tension in the way the model is angled, which is ridiculous, but he’s very good at projecting onto blockmen at this point.
