A low humming sound could be heard across Oakhurst, not that many were there to hear it, a buzz of magic fluttered through the air after centuries of abandonment, and a slight chill nothing extreme but just cold enough for goose bumps to form on the arms, not that many of the residents here needed to keep warm. And finally the grating sound of voices thudding and echoing waking the pair from their almost endless slumber.

Summary
Avid and his family have been moving from town to town for almost a decade now. It's all in attempt to find a solution to the gaping wound on his neck. Eventually, they find themselves in a town called Oakhurst that is as welcoming as it is mysterious. Upon finding a castle within the woods, Avid catches the interest of a certain vampire lord.
A prequel to a fix-it fic where Avid is a starter vampire. Inspired by "Centuries with you" by An_Eternal_Star.
