Kris stared at her. They couldn’t speak for a moment, eyes poring over Susie. A part of them couldn’t believe she was actually here, sitting in front of them with a wild gaze. She was soaked, droplets falling from her hair, the jacket over her shoulders turned dark from the water. Had she really braved the rain and wind in the dark of night just because ‘it didn’t feel right leaving’? Kris was silent and unmoving before they ducked their head, running a hand over their face. They peered up at her again, palm clutched over their mouth as their cheeks threatened to tighten with a smile, but Kris took a deep breath and composed themself. They let their hand fall into their lap.
“My… sweater?” They repeated, their words coming out in a low mumble. Their head turned a sliver to the side, and Susie followed the motion and looked in the corner. Through the dark, she could just barely make out the green sweater thrown over the birdcage.i.e., Susie and a soulless Kris reflect on the events of Chapter 4 and their relationship with each other.

Summary
As the vines constrict around him, Ralsei wriggles desperately. “Kris, I think there’s some kind of poison in these thorns! I don’t know what it is, but Susie’s been inflicted!”
Kris takes a hesitant step backwards, and Susie takes one forward. Cutting Ralsei free should be their current priority, and yet Susie is idly staring right at them, gaze sharp enough to pierce armor.
“Hey,” Susie breathes, suddenly so close. “Is it just me, or did you get way cuter?”

Susie is halfway down the Dreemurr residents' driveway when she hears a distinct thunk come from behind her. She jumps, breath caught, as her hands instinctively clench into fists. She's not sure what she expects when she whips her head around, but it's certainly not Kris. Who had not so gracefully faceplanted into the squishy wetness of the earth.
She blinks, looking at them, and then to the open window of their room. "Dude, you-"
Red eyes stare into her, half-exhausted, half manic in their energy.
"Help me break into the hospital?"
Kris plays the piano for Susie, and then Kris helps Susie play piano for herself.

The silver-haired boy swallowed. Hard. Yet his throat was tight, so tight that it felt like he was suffocating.
“You’re such an idiot,” he shakily whispered.
Gon stirred slightly but didn’t wake.
Killua glanced at him, his sharp blue eyes softening at the sight of his slumbering friend.
The silver-haired boy nearly chuckled, almost letting a soft laugh escape his trembling lips, yet nothing came out. His eyes traced the outlines of Gon’s warm, dreaming features, mesmerized at the way his eyelashes cast delicate shadows upon his soft, flushed cheeks.
Gon’s chest rose and fell, his fingers slightly twitching against the surface of the silk sheets now and then, almost as if he were unconsciously reaching out to him.
Gon looked…peaceful. Utterly peaceful. Beautiful.
And Killua knew, had always known, that Gon was beautiful.

A flustered Killua Zoldyck fails to fight off his unspoken feelings towards his beloved best friend Gon Freecss.

Summary
Gon's calm focus was a sharp contrast to the wild, fiery force of his aura expanding, whirling and whipping around him, the heat of it coming off in waves. It was so bright, like the sun. A solar flare. A bonfire in the forest at night. Hot, hot, hot, hot. Killua felt like the skin of his eyelids might have been burnt away. He watched, transfixed.
So, Gon was gold on the inside. It was no real surprise, but it was another thing to see it.

There’s glitter on his face, a sparkle that plays hide-and-seek between highlight of the moon and shadows of the night. It enhances his beauty, the swell of his cheeks and the cupid bow of his lips; his eyelashes and hair shimmer with it, like a fresh snow or—
Gon can’t help but reach out, cupping Killua’s cheek so that he meets his gaze. His blue eyes are shadowed navy in the dark, wide with confusion.
“You’re like a star,” Gon breathes, awestruck. Even with just the moon’s pale glow, he can see the pastel pink that spreads over Killua’s face, a familiar warmth against his palm. Before Killua can protest, he murmurs, “Can I make a wish?”
Killua’s lips tilt up at that, what must seem like a corny, childish request. He indulges him with an affirming hum.
Gon takes a steadying breath, inhales slowly and holds it in his lungs for a moment before wishing, “Stay with me forever.”

His tired eyes landed on the boy, who was stretching his body up to the sky. Something about it made Gon's voice stop dead in his throat. Killua yawned, a deep noise. The light of the sunrise outlined his hair and made it almost glow. "Aahh, that kind of sleep really brings me back. Not in a good way though, honestly." He spoke with that rumbling crack of a voice that hadn't caught up with the body, and had yet to wake up itself.
Gon thought he was seeing new colors. He blinked rapidly. "Kil.....lua?"

“See?” Killua says smugly. “It’s not that easy, is it?”
“Well, it’s like you said. There are lots of things I could use, but none of them fit right.” Gon lowers his gaze, rubbing his thumbs over Killua’s knuckles. “I could call you ‘my life’, because it’s true, but I think you would combust if I called you that in public. I could call you ‘love’, but that sounds too serious. I could call you ‘dear’, because you’re dear to me, but that’s not serious enough. So, it’s kind of complicated. You know?”
Killua doesn’t respond. Gon lifts his head to find Killua gaping at him, his usually pale cheeks scarlet and his blue eyes large.
Uh, oh. Gon’s stomach lurches. Did he just break Killua?
