Summary
The war between Earth and Krypton left both planets bleeding. In need of an end, Humanity and the Kryptonians agree to a peace, one to be sealed by a contract: a marriage contract to be precise.
On Earth, Batman volunteers to jump on the grenade before anyone else. He has to end this war and protect his children.
On Krypton, Kara-El volunteers as a peace offering. However, Kal-El has some objections to his baby cousin marrying a violent Earth general, so he suggests an alternate plan.
Ultimately, taking down General Zod and his war-mongering was always going to take the joint efforts of two men, who, in a another universe, are all but brothers, even if, in this one, they have every reason to be enemies.
