Summary
Stan Pines and good decisions go together like oil and water. His latest bad decision? Going home for Hanukkah. Blame it on a phone call, a guilty conscience, or just plain stupidity. Whatever the reason, Stan's rusty El Diablo is pointed towards Jersey, and there's no turning back now.
Snow's falling, tempers are rising, and Stan's stuck in the middle. Happy freaking Hanukkah.

Back in my day, they just called kids like us stupid.
Mabel thinks Stan has a learning disability. Dysgraphia, she called it. But Stan doesn't understand. He's dumb, an idiot. that was decided by teachers and kids on the playground a long time ago. But, as Mabel tries to explain, his memories slip back to a time long ago in Glass Shard Beach.

Summary
“The author of the journals,” Stan said, finally standing up. "My brother."
The author of the journals, his brother, looked at the miniscule crowd that had arrived by accident to greet him. The author looked between them all, and Dipper could see reflection on his face from the light of the slowly dimming portal. The author’s gaze finally settled on Stan, and his posture stiffened.
“Dad?” The author of the journals, his brother, choked out. He sounded absolutely baffled.
Stan’s expression turned equally baffled, clearly not anticipating this. “What?”

The portal has opened, and spat out Stanford Filbrick Pines, exactly as he was when he left. Thirty years has passed for the outside world, but only a few hours have been lost for him.
It changes things. Especially with the worst memories of Ford's life still hot on his tail, and eager to make a reappearance.

Summary
"We found him in the woods!" Mabel says cheerfully. "Dipper thought he was you for a moment, but then he -"
His hair is a shock of gray, his glasses cracked. He's wearing a rumpled combination of tattered trench coat and red sweater that looks entirely ridiculous in an Oregon summer. He's looking at Stan with a look of distant confusion that makes him look, for one strange moment, like an overgrown owl.
Stan can't breathe.
"Ford?"
