Summary
After the events of "The Best of Both Worlds", Jean-Luc returns to his childhood home in Burgundy, hoping to reconnect with his estranged family.
Exhausted, bruised all the way to his soul, angry at the world and at himself, he's forced to wonder, for the first time in his life, if he still has what it takes to captain the Enterprise.
With the unconventional help of his brother, and that of a rather unexpected visitor, he must come to terms with some long-buried truths about himself, face what happened to him at the hands of the Borg, and remember what it means for him to be Jean-Luc Picard.

And so, instead of resisting it, as he knew a knight might, as he knew a knight ought to, when a knight is aware that lines are being crossed, he did not pull away, allowing Lord Bertilak's hands to linger at his face long after he'd pulled away, smiling grey hawks' eyes intently searching his face. He was not a knight and so, when Lord Bertilak nodded his head and began to pull away, Gawain grabbed his arm, surging up to meet his lips again.<
"There is more," he said, his mouth dry even as the forest around them was filled with moisture and dampness, little droplets of waters still clinging onto the leaves from what Gawain could only assume had been a proper Welsh rain earlier in the morning, and it was not an admission, the green kirtle still safe, heavy around his waist. "More for you to take."

Summary
Against the widespread distrust of magic, the Ash'abah perform rituals of purification for mausoleums and other places where vengeful spirits might arise, including an annual ceremony at Tu'whacca's Throne meant to ensure the rest of the ranks of Redguard royalty. This activity is regarded as blasphemous, but tolerated due to the necessity of its performance. The Ash'abah consider the body to be sacred. If one ever becomes corrupted by necromancy, they strive to preserve the body while banishing the unholy essence. To achieve this, they have developed highly ritualistic methods of killing that involve uttering pleas of forgiveness and apology.
