Summary
Buck gets his period for the first time in many years, on shift no less. He struggles with accepting help when it's needed most and how that help makes him feel.
---
or
---A shrug was the only response Buck could offer without breaking down. He scrubbed at the tears free falling into his lap.
“Can you take a nice big breath for me, honey? You’re gonna tire yourself out more if you don’t slow down your breathing,” Bobby explained.
The boy sniffed, and tried to take a deep breath. It broke around the edges and ballooned into a sob. That was okay. Honestly, Bobby had expected it. He’d done the same with Robert Jr. and Brook. Sometimes, in order to calm down, breaking down was necessary.
“Yeah, there we go Buck,” Bobby encouraged, “Let it all out, that’s alright. You’re alright.”
Such big feelings needed somewhere to go and ricocheting off the walls of the inside of a small body wasn’t containment enough. Bobby worried his brow. Buck wasn’t exactly small physically, but the comparison still remained effective. The boy cried fruitfully for a few minutes as the fire captain rubbed his back. Eventually his sobs condensed to sniffles.

Summary
Her hands were strong as they clung to him, tugging with strength he didn’t even know she had until he was over the railing and they were both on the ground. She let out a sob, dragging him into her arms until his face was against her chest and his arms laid limp at his side. She wrapped him in her arms, holding him against her and she just cried, his own tears still unwilling to fall and he wished that he could.
“I’m sorry, Athena.” His voice was strung in exhaustion, but no tears.

Summary
The walls were closing in but he wasn’t strong enough to hold them back. As much as he wanted to clean up the mess he'd made of his life he just couldn’t find the strength. There was no way out... it was just too late. There was only one thing left to do.
He tidied the apartment as best he could, donated his clothes to goodwill, emptied his fridge and gave the leftovers to the homeless. All that was left was the hardest part. Writing the letter... The last piece of him his family would have, but they probably wouldn't want. He grabbed the pen and paper and began.Bookmarked by Lord_Lucifer_Crow

Summary
The table was crowded, everyone digging in, conversations overlapping. Eddie and Hen were arguing about some documentary, Chim was telling Ravi a ridiculous story from before his probationary days, and Buck was half-listening to all of it, happily stuffing his face.
"Buck, pass the salt?" Bobby asked, not looking up from his plate.
Without thinking, Buck grabbed it and handed it over. "Here you go, Dad."
