Abel isn't stupid, really, he isn't. He promises that. After all, to be a one of the divine judges you had to be smart. You had to make quick decisions based on every single detail given and be RIGHT because there was no time for any mistakes. And now with him being chosen as the new head of the exorcists? Well… Clearly Abel wasn’t a moron.
That being said, when Lucifer and Charlie arrive in Heaven to talk about redemption, Sir Pentious and Adam's death and Abel is just a minute or two late to the meeting?

Swallowing hard, Shadowsight lifted his eyes to meet her’s, to give the young cat at least some semblance of support. As they did, like a lightning strike on a dead tree, the anxious itch under Shadowsight’s pelt ignited into a blaze.
As they held each other’s gazes for what felt like an eternity, Shadowsight saw something that it seemed no one else at the gathering was willing to see. That no one else was able to see.
