Mydei hums. “With the Grove?”
Phainon feels sort-of-bad-sort-of-not for obfuscating the truth: one because it’s Mydei, and the other because the matter is about him confessing to Mydei, you see. He pulls a face. “You could say that.”
Kremnoan Roses aren't real. Probably. Phainon is about ninety-nine percent sure. But after coming across an antique Kremnoan vase, Phainon swears that if he, by some miracle, manages to recreates them, he will confess to Mydei with a bouquet of mythical roses.

Perdikkas comes into view, stepping closer to blink down at Phainon and Mydei on the ground. “You’re all here?”
Ptolemy scoffs, kicking lightly at the dirt. “Guess who has the extraordinary pleasure of being assigned the babysitting duty to the dumbass trio over here?” He rolls his eyes with a sharp sigh. “Not Peucesta, clearly. Lucky bastard.”
“Don’t lump me in with them,” Hephaestion protests. Ridiculous. Everyone knows who instigates the fights just as often as Phainon and Mydei.
“We don’t need babysitting,” Phainon says at the same time, words muffled as Mydei’s hand smashes his head into the ground, resuming their fight now that Ptolemy is distracted. Phainon almost bites down on the dirt by accident.
or; Phainon finds Mydei drifting at the Sea of Souls after Aedes Elysiae is destroyed. Pulling the other kid out of the water might be the best decision of his life

While on their first field assignment since Penacony, Aventurine and Ratio are surprised to encounter a vengeful Avgin mercenary. Summary
Contrary to popular belief, it was not habit for a Kremnoan to value only strength. They were neither heartless nor cruel, those that were merely byproducts of an oppressive bygone ruler. Much like all the other metropoles of Amphoreus, Castrum Kremnos had once fostered its own rich culture and traditions. It was simply a shame that its bloodied history was what withstood the test of time.
The prince of a warrior kingdom seems to have quite a tempered personality, for the most part.

They don’t but Ren’s mind wanders over to the supermarket just down the street.
A ten minute trip. Five, if he runs.
“Yes, we do. Would you like it hot or cold?” He says, like an idiot, and not for the first time this day, Ren feels the urge to scream.
(Or, Ren is a part-time barista at the Astral Express. Dan Heng is a new regular who only orders tea. The Astral Express doesn't serve tea though and it's only Ren's daily commutes to the supermarket that supplies his addiction but Ren would rather die than have Dan Heng find out.)
