Some Curses were born from humans. It's unknown whether they still have their souls or are just remnants of their former selves. Most preferred to believe the latter.
These Curses tended to be stronger. And there was one other thing they all had in common: They always, always, changed from the form they had once been.
The differences were vast. Many weren't even humanoid. The one who most resembled what he had been before than a Curse was Ryoumen Sukuna, the King of Curses. He was basically twice as tall as he had been. He definitely didn't look human. Maybe that was because even when he was human, he had been more Curse than human.
How much of a monster did Sukuna have to be that he didn't change that much when he stopped being human?
How inhuman did Satoru have to be that he didn't change at all in appearance when he stopped being technically human?
Because yes, you heard him right. Satoru was no longer human. But Satoru hadn't changed physically either. And yet, only his own eyes (two, just two) were the only things that could confirm that he wasn't human at all.
He was no longer human, his mind repeated over and over again.

A void from which no light could escape. The lack of eyes did not stop Yuji from feeling as though his very soul was being judged, sending a jolt up his spine. His fingers released the other paintings, leaving the stack to fall back onto themselves as he crawled away.
