“If you get out there while you’re drugged there’s no telling what you’ll do,” Wylan said, pushing past Kaz to get back to his work station. “I’d think you'd want to avoid pulling the Dregs into this gang war.” He yanked a cabinet open and rummaged around for a pipette. Opened the vial. Drew out a drop. In his head he ran through the motions of the synthesis: he’d gotten close, before, with the blood sample. All he had to do now was see it through to the finish.
“I know that.” Kaz’s voice was nearly a snarl, but then again it always sounded like that. There was still time. “I mean, why didn’t you lock it from the outside?”
“Like that would stop you," Wylan scoffed. "You need an antidote. You said the others were dead within the hour.”
“Only after killing everyone in their vicinity, Merchling, did you forget that part?”

Ben’s gaze lingers on Prentiss like some sort of twisted staring contest, but the gun never fully leaves Reid. His eyes flick between the two agents, weighing the risk of sacrifice against cold suspicion, innocence against guilt. Then, with a sudden jerk of his chin, he gestures towards the stairs, the same one Reid had watched girls disappear down with heads hung low. “He stays,” Ben states, voice lower than usual but certain.
Reid’s stomach drops. “What?” he finds himself asking aloud.
“The innocent must not suffer further with the guilty. God commands me to shield you, and so I must place you where no sin can touch you. You will be safe as long as you remain where I put you.” Ben explains, as simply and casually as if he were discussing the weather. “The innocent must be shielded from corruption. God commands me to protect the pure.”

His thighs spread, fingers trembling as he checks to make sure it was empty one final time. The metal glistened, the cold feeling replaced with a more room temperature one. He swallows the lump in his chest, feeling a mix of arousal and disgust at what he was about to do. Slowly, he presses the muzzle against his taint, right underneath his balls. The gesture makes him flinch, a surge of terror shooting through his limbs. It felt good. Scary, but good. He fights the impulse to check its emptiness again.
If Hotch could see him now, naked and flushed with a gun prodding at his entrance, he would probably set aside Spencer's IQ and PhDs and just call him plain stupid, and he would deserve it.
