Summary
Mike is ten when Mom, breath heavy with wine, sits on his bed in the middle of the night. Her hair is flat. Her eyes are red. Her hands are trembling. She slurs when she speaks, and Mike knows he'll never forget what she tells him that night. Mike knows it to be true, because it makes everything click. He is not Ted Wheeler's son. The next morning, Mom will wake up and have forgotten the whole incident.
Mike wishes he could.

Hawkins Hospital is under attack. Aware of Will's feelings towards his best friend Vecna goes after Mike sprucing Will into action to go save him.

“How about this, then? I’ll give you a chance. A small one, but a chance, nevertheless. You better run, though. I’m almost there and so is he. What did you say to Max earlier? Oh, right…” Vecna laughed once more, the vines around Will retreating into the walls hiding from plain sight.“Run.”

Summary
"Mike?" Will asks, jaw dropped open in bewilderment, hand still clutching the door knob.
The Mike standing in front of him is wearing a rickety jacket that almost swallows his thin frame entirely, and has his arms curled around himself, his shoulders hunched. His hands play with his sleeves as if nervous. His body is trembling. And it's the state of his body that really makes Will's blood run cold in horror.
There are bruises all over Mike's face. The black eye he has is stark against the whiteness of his skin, reminding Will of drops of dark paint on a blank canvas. His lip is busted, and Will can see traces of dried blood on him. And most noticeably, he has a ring of bruises around his neck, in the shape of hands.
Upon seeing Will at the door, Mike's expression simultaneously lightens and crumples.
"Will." He croaks out, desperation and vulnerability clear in his shaky voice.
After not speaking nor seeing eachother for 5 years, Mike suddenly turns up at Will's door, bruised and bloodied.

Summary
“Well, this sucks for Dustin,” Will jokes as he slips the shotgun off his shoulder and pulls a shell out of his jacket pocket, loading it in. “First he misses my magical powers, now he’s gonna miss this.”
Mike laughs in response. He watches as Will hefts the shotgun up, making sure the butt is sat snug against his shoulder. Will’s eyes narrow as he lines up the gun with the generator, and Mike feels butterflies in his stomach at how self-assured he is with it. He sees Will take a breath in then slowly exhale, his finger pulling the trigger.
or: Mike and Will get their turn in the Upside Down to confess.
