Summary
Whoever said that New York was a big city has obviously never had to try to live there after a breakup. The twenty-two square miles of Manhattan feels like nothing when David sees Patrick everywhere. The coffee shop on the corner where they met, the Italian place in the West Village where they had their second date, even the sign for the C train that Patrick used to take from his job in the Financial District to David’s gallery in Soho. David sees Patrick’s face in all of it.
David and Patrick broke up months ago, but living with the memories has been hard for them both.

Summary
Patrick hasn’t responded to a single text, a single phone call, in two days. Not even the eight stoned voicemails David left on accident after some misguided therapy from Stevie drew a reaction. And this is after the three days of space David gave him, so, really, he’s gone through five days without word from his boyfriend and he’s really, really starting to worry.
They’ve had fights before - of course they have. Little spats because they’re both too stubborn and opinionated for their own good, but ultimately it’s only a few hours - maybe a day, if it’s really bad - spent pouting and wallowing and complaining to the nearest person before they realize they’re both idiots. And then they’re fine. They’ll make up, some tears will be shed (David), mistakes will be overly apologized for (Patrick), and love will be reassured and reaffirmed (both of them).
That hasn’t happened yet.
or, david and patrick have a fight, so david resorts to a dramatic (if a little disruptive) romcom-esque gesture to get back in his good graces.

David is quitting.
He’s had enough of working for a photography company with an off-the-books philosophy of "sleaze and cheese", he's had enough of getting forced into assignments at the last minute when the company president decides he's flitting off to party with D-list celebrities instead. He’s quitting. This is, in fact, his last job.
At least it's an easy shoot - a puff piece on some up-and-coming Canadian singer-songwriter on the indie circuit who's just been catapaulted to widespread fame. No complications, no controversy. He'll be in his apartment and wallowing in his bamboo-silk sheets before he knows it.
