Drink prepared and with a coaster already underneath it, Mira looked across the bar in confusion. It didn't take that long for Rumi to walk from the entrance to the bar, but perhaps she had taken a trip to the restroom.
While she waited, Mira let her eyes skim across the dancers on the floor, desensitized to all the drunk grinding going on, before settling on Zoey's booth. Her body tensed as she felt her heart drop to the bottom of her stomach.
Standing next to the DJ, heads bent close to hear each other over the music and crowd, was Rumi. They stood close together, rather typical for people conversing on the dance floor where it was crowded, but unusual when Zoey's setup gave her plenty of space. But, as her eyes narrowed in on the way Zoey's hand rested on Rumi's hip was anything to go by, it was a familiar sort of intimacy between the two.
It just had to be.
In all the months that Zoey was working there, Mira had never once seen her flirt or get handsy with patrons. Just with her, and now Rumi.

Mira looked at the new person. He was… handsome, she supposed, with his defined jaw and soft features and neatly parted hair. He gave her a friendly wave, and Mira waved back.
"This is Jinu, my boyfriend," Rumi continued.

Mira had a crush on Rumi the entire time she'd been her dance instructor. She had a handle on it—she was good at controlling her emotions—until Rumi brought her boyfriend to class.

“Only for you, Ryu,” Mira hums, carving a wide circle around the shorter woman. Rumi sets her jaw, eyes tracking Mira’s every glide, her brow pulled low. A warm, stubborn heat creeps up her chest. Mira loves this–loves how easily she can get under Rumi’s skin.
“Fuck off,” Rumi snaps, pushing away across the ice.
Mira follows.
She skates backwards with long, deliberate strides, feet crossing cleanly as she keeps pace, never giving Rumi the space she’s attempting to create. “Not getting away that easily, princess.”
Rumi snaps her head back to Mira, eyes ablaze. “Don’t even–” She cuts herself off with a sharp sigh, flipping a single finger in her direction. Mira just laughs.
Why was winding Rumi up so intoxicating? Mira doesn’t know. Or rather, she doesn’t care enough to find out.
