“Bokuto-san, I… I care about you a lot, and I want to be in your life any way you’ll have me. But I was hoping that maybe we could try dating? Er, that— you would maybe want to date me?”
His voice lilted upward at the end, and Kenma cocked his head, grinning. “Not bad, Keiji. Here’s hoping he understands what you’re trying to say. He can be kind of dense sometimes, can’t he?”
“Shut up,” Akaashi groaned, throwing a spare pillow in his direction. “I just hope it’s enough.”

Another week-long training camp in which Akaashi asks for Kenma’s help in confessing to Bokuto, Kuroo (still) isn’t used to dating Kenma, Bokuto represses his feelings, and Kenma just wants to take a nap.

Summary
“I can’t believe you're real,” Kuroo says in awe. Kenma feels his eyes go wide at that. He stops walking to turn to Kuroo, whose eyes are half-lidded and smiling, looking down at Kenma.
“What do you mean real,” Kenma mummers, reaching up to cup Kuroo’s cheek, “of course I’m real.”
He hears Kuroo hum before leaning down to brush their lips together. “You’re just so beautiful,” he closes the gap for a second before pulling away, “ethereal,” another kiss, “so fucking pretty, Kenma.”

Summary
There are some things you just can’t see unless you do things you don’t normally do. This beautiful day unfolding in front of him is one. The man sitting next to him might be another. However, Kenma doesn’t let himself dwell on the second thing for too long because he remembers Jun’s words. Kuroo isn’t interested in romance. And Kenma knows nothing about romance in the first place.
Instead, he whispers to Kuroo, “Thank you for showing me this.”
“You’re welcome,” says Kuroo’s soft voice in return.
They continue to stare at the rising sun. Kenma feels that, with any luck, this would solidify the unspoken, budding friendship between them. He still doesn’t know what it is that he is looking for here in this town, but it feels like he’s taken good first steps.
How to build a life you want. Kenma thinks. This is probably just the beginning.

Kenma, software engineer and a childhood cancer survivor, moves to a coastal town based on one of his favorite video games in search of a life he’s always wanted. Enters Kuroo Tetsurou, a science teacher and volleyball coach, who lives just a few doors down. Maybe right here, and within one another, they will both find what they are looking for.
