“We never get to hang out one-on-one,” Maddie answers with a shrug. “And you’re very important to a lot of people who are very important to me. So I figured it was about time we did.”
“You spent sixteen hundred dollars,” Eddie reminds her.
Maddie shrugs again. “I was feeling charitable.”

Evan is very confused, but the man’s voice is so soft and earnest that he can’t help the smile that creeps over his face. Maybe he’d had a one-night stand that was just taking really really good care of him after… after what? A fall? Alcohol poisoning? Evan shudders at the thought of being mugged. Rose Landry is shooting yet another X-Squad sequel in Montreal this month, and they planned her visit to Shane and Ilya's place in Ottawa ages ago; it's just a weird coincidence that Shane is out for a few games with a shoulder strain, and able to hang out with Rose tonight while Ilya's busy playing a home game against Dallas.
