She pulled his hand closer, turning it over to study it. He was in shock as to why she was holding his hand so tenderly that he didn’t even see the obvious cuts all along his fingers she was currently observing.
“That’s uh… from the fall and the log, I think.” Branch stuttered, feeling warmth spread across his cheeks.
He was glad it was so dark in the hole they had fallen into, the last thing he needed was Poppy to notice he was blushing.
(Branch and Poppy accidentally partake in a dangerous mission to drive off giant birds attacking Troll Village. This takes place before Movie 1.)
