    Summary

“I loved you with my hands, with my power. Was it not enough?”

    “No,” Kiana says, truthfully.

“I planted stars in your pupils and wove the Milky Way into your hair.” It murmurs, quiet and grieving. “I gave you comets for wings and planets as stepping stones.”

    “You did.” She agrees.

“The Universe was your cloak. Time was your plaything. You could have shaped the world into anything you wanted.”

“After how many prices paid?” Kiana closes her eyes, remembering the pain of Honkai peeling apart her body, an eye turned amber, burning herself in cleansing flames until her irises were finally once again blue.

    “Did it matter?”

It is genuine in its inquiry. But Kiana still feels the dying embers of hatred that she tried to let go.

    “Yes,” she snaps forcefully.

    Summary

Before Neuvillette can answer his question, however, Wriothesley waves it away. “Ah, whatever. No need to bring the mood down - you’re here for tea, after all.”

Neuvillette opens his mouth to protest - he’s not here for just tea, after all. Marie is bound to make a disturbance in the Fortress. He came to apologize, and then to talk about the ark, and then make sure Sigewinne is doing alright, but…

Wriothesley raises an eyebrow. “The Palais Mermonia will not burn down if you are away for one day, Neuvillette.”

    Neuvillette shuts his mouth.

OR: Four times the people who care about him try to pull Neuvillette out of his shell in the wake of the Fontaine prophecy disaster, and the one time they succeeded.

    Summary

“Your men follow you of their own volition," Flins said. "They do not follow your orders out of obligation. They do not fight for you to repay a debt. They do not die for you because you deserve it.”

“Maybe it’s desperation, then.” Varka looked away. “I’m not deaf. I know my men doubt the reasons for which we’re here. But so far from our home, from Mondstadt… there is no one else to turn to.”

“It matters not. Whatever loyalty compelled them to make this decision to follow you so far in the first place stays with them. Stays with you.” He stood at this moment, the alcohol bitter on his tongue. “I must depart for my lighthouse soon, Varka. I have a duty to keep to.”

“I won’t keep you.” Varka waved him off, but he still hadn’t looked at him - hadn’t truly looked at him, hadn’t seen the deep festering hurt that he had inadvertently brought to the surface again. “Safe travels, Flins.”

“Loyalty, Varka,” Flins said instead of responding. “Not every answer is desperation.”

    Summary

Cowbaby was ordered by Hera to punish Annabeth, and Cowbaby did at first... but then she saw Annabeth's pretty golden hair (looked so yummy), and Annabeth's lovely drawing (though a cow drawing would be cooler), and her care for her calf (so small and delicate). Cowbaby doesn't want to punish Annabeth, Cowbaby wants to be Annabeth's friend.
