"You know what I need right now?" Iwaizumi says suddenly, staring straight ahead at the gaudy blue and orange pattern of the back of the bus seat.
A girlfriend? A little bit of hair product? A reminder of how popular and handsome I am? Tooru would usually quip something teasing, but the words feel inappropriate, tasteless on his tongue.
"What do you need?” Tooru asks him softly instead, and Iwaizumi turns his head to meet his gaze.
“A vacation."

It wasn’t a weird thing to want. Most people liked to be able to help a friend in need. He hadn’t been more experienced than Iwaizumi in anything for years.
Iwaizumi stared at him like he had grown a head. Or maybe, like it was a weird thing to want. “What?!”
“C’mon, we’re friends,” Oikawa said, already scooting over. “Kiss me. I’ll tell you if you’re awful.”
It's not weird or gay to consistently hook up with your best friend. It's actually a really good idea.
(Just make sure to ignore that ugly, nasty, thing that lives between your ribs.)

Nothing happened between Oikawa and Iwaizumi before Oikawa left for Argentina. Oikawa didn’t want to think about that so naturally he thought about it the whole twenty-four hour flight to San Juan.
Oikawa goes to Argentina. Iwaizumi stays in Japan. They have a lot of distance to cover.
