Summary
“Julek?”, Geralt asks, dread sharpening the pet name down to a knife-edge between his lips even as he leans over his husband and reaches out to touch his back and sweat-soaked shirt.
Gods, it has only been a couple of months since they’ve been wed, so recent the word ‘husband’ still trips them up in conversation from time to time simply because its edges have not yet been smoothed over by frequent use and its taste still lingers new and unfamiliar on their tongues whenever they say it.
“My love, talk to me. What do you need?”
His knees dig down into the soft grass as he rubs one hand between Jaskier’s shoulder blades and cranes his head in an attempt to see his face. This close up, Geralt can make out the laboured rise and fall of his husband’s shoulders, his uneven breath as he holds himself so still, Geralt has the absurd thought that Jaskier might be trying to hide away from his pain, to play dead until it finally went away.

Summary
“What is this?”, Geralt asks, voice strong, strong, strong and no longer strained with pain, strained with death, “my love, what have you done?”
His blood is drying brownish red against their skin, so dark against the farbic of Jaskier’s ruined chemise and trousers that it looks almost black – but the skin beneath his torn armour and shirt is smooth, whole, undamaged.
“Don’t hate me”, Jaskier whispers, not daring to meet his witcher’s eye now that it’s done and his blood is no longer thrumming with panic and pain, now that his glamour has washed away with the words, “o gods, please don’t hate me, I couldn’t let you go, I couldn’t-“
“Jaskier”, Geralt cuts him off, voice gentle and low but Jaskier can’t hear anything over this new bound of panic, this worse type of fear, “What did you do?”
“I gave you my life”
Jaskier almost laughs as he says it, although it might be tears rather than laughter that roughen up his voice as he speaks.

“I guess so”
Those three words barely made it all the way form the back of Jon’s throat, through is teeth and finally his lips with how dry his mouth had suddenly become, tongue sticking to the roof of his mouth as if fastened there with glue while he felt his cheeks heat up in the hidden comfort of Tim’s jumper.
“Yeah, and I know so”, Tim told him softly, then added, “so we’re alright, aren’t we?”
“I- yes. Yes we are”
“Good”, Tim sighed, quietly smiling when he hugged Jon to his chest and felt his arms come up to wrap around his neck and return the embrace, “and we can easily fix the rest too, you know”
“Do I?”
“Yup. Magic word’s ‘open communication’”
“That’s two words”
“You can’t know whether I meant the s as a verb”
“That sentence wouldn’t have a predicate at all if you didn’t"
“And do I look like I care?”

Summary
“Why is it whenever I find myself in a pile of shit these days, it's you-“
Jaskier is all but sure that he doesn’t back away, even though every fibre of his very being tells him to and the ground beneath his feet seems to drop away with every syllable that leaves Geralt’s mouth- and he’s almost certain that he doesn’t wince even though the words dig into him like teeth. Maybe it’s the wind that’s changed or literally anything else, but something shifts in Geralt’s eyes and his voice dies away halfway through his accuse.
“I’m leaving”, he spits out after a moment of tense silence, hands balled into fists and shoulders still rising and falling too hard with every slow, forced breath, “before I say something I’ll regret. Don’t come after me”
“But-“, Jaskier starts when Geralt pushes past him and towards the woods without a single, backwards glance, “but, you will come back, right?”

Summary
“Hurts”, Ciri sniffs into the soft fabric of Jaskier’s chemise, hiccupping through the single syllable.
“We know”, Jaskier croons, cradling her tighter go his chest while Geralt hums in agreement, but doesn’t let up, “o, my poor, brave girl”
“You won’t need stitches”, Geralt assures her as much as his husband, blood drying against his fingers and the inside of his right forearm, “and I don’t think you’ve got a concussion. It’s not a deep gash, headwounds just bleed like crazy. You’ll be fine in a couple of hours. It probably won’t even leave a scar”
“It won’t?”, Ciri sniffles, sounding so put out, Jaskier chokes out a laugh, before he manages to reign himself back in.
“…it might”, Geralt amends after a brief pause, exchanging a look with his husband, “I can’t promise either way”

Ciri gets hurt and comforted, words are had between Jaskier and his brothers in law.
