He'd know what to do right now, but he doesn't, he doesn't know what to do, he's just so scared. So Occtis thrashes in place, struggles wildly beneath the immaterial grip of a dozen shadow-soaked hands.
It doesn't work. He isn't going to get away. But at least he won't have made it easy for them.

He - he said he was going to see her later. Shit, did he specify an hour? It's been more than an hour. She's going to be so mad at him. It's not his fault; he makes a point of keeping appointments, once he's made them. He's always anxious at the thought of breaking a promise. He rarely makes promises, frankly, because when he does, he likes them to actually mean something.
But Thimble can have any promise from him she'd like, given the friends of it all. Occtis doesn't have a lot of those, these days.
