Summary
James Potter never thought he’d find himself in a situation this bizarre, even by Marauder standards.
Desperate for a way to defeat Voldemort, James and the Order of the Phoenix performed an ancient ritual, summoning a powerful figure from another time and place. When the man arrived, James wasn’t sure if they’d gained an ally or unleashed another threat. But his son, Harry, took to the stranger instantly, fondly dubbing him “Mr. Snitch” after the man playfully adopted the name.
It was hard for James to reconcile Snitch’s gentleness with the sheer skill and power he commanded—power wielded so effortlessly that he spoke Voldemort’s name as if he did not know the concept of fear. And even through his guard, James couldn’t ignore how the stranger softened whenever he played with Harry, his voice almost aching with a quiet, unspoken longing when he spoke with James and Lily.
Who was this man, really? And why did James feel such a pull towards him, a deep warmth that seemed to defy logic? James was determined to uncover the truth, for the stranger felt like more than just an ally. He felt like a friend—like someone James had known for so long.

Miles Edgeworth's first act as chief prosecutor was a probably corrupt one. He overturned Phoenix Wright's disbarment by fiat, without process, and knowing full well that, while he'd been innocent of presenting forged evidence the first time around, he had recently played the same dirty trick that was played on him on another young lawyer.
The two of them celebrated— Phoenix's return to law, and Miles' return to the states and promotion— with a bottle of wine in the chief prosecutor's office. Miles sat behind his desk, and Phoenix sat in the chair across, with his feet up.
"You know, Edgeworth, when I told you what happened with Kristoph, I thought you were going to throw something at me and tell me to get fucked."

Now that he's up there, on the stand, with an audience of people who already think he's a horrible person, he's decided to end all of it now. He's going to burn himself to the ground. Just so long as his idiot lawyer, Phoenix Wright, doesn't get involved.

Miles is the kind of person who you can tell has seen something terrible. He's a quiet, stoic, crushed little boy sitting in the back of a limousine he doesn't own, watching the only home he'd ever had fade away into the mist behind them. His father is dead, his killer not yet convicted, and Miles is terrified of what's going to happen to him, but at least Manfred von Karma has agreed to take him in. Obviously, nothing can go wrong.

Larry stared at him for several seconds as his mind apparently buffered.
“... Maya?” he guessed finally. Miles pinched the bridge of his nose, feeling tested.
“From our childhood.”
“Our only childhood friend is Nick!” Larry insisted and Miles felt a stab of pain behind his eyes.(It turns out that Miles did not, in fact, put two and two together about his childhood friend and his current friend and coworker who has always talked to him with a little too much familiarity. Surely he won’t find this out in a very, very stupid way, right?)
