It’s not the way he meant it, but if Hollander takes so much fucking offense on the (not even intentional) implication that there’s something more than rivalry going on between him and Rozanov… so be it. Scott isn’t here to coddle some homophobic crybaby.

The hand doesn’t pull away. Instead, it slides lower.
Shane stiffens as fingers trace down his spine, lingering too long, dipping beneath the hem of his shirt. Skin-on-skin contact sends a jolt through him, not pleasure, not comfort, but something sharp and wrong. His breath catches.
Then the hand grips him. Firmly. Possessive. Fingers digging into his ass through his jeans.
Shane jerks slightly, confusion slicing through the fog. His heart stutters, a hard, uneven beat that makes his chest ache.

Summary
Shane and Ilya had to go through so much to finally be together, and they are supposed to be experiencing their happy ending, so why was Shane acting so weird?
After a particularly bad game, Ilya gets overly rough with Shane when they sleep together. He thought he controlled himself, but what if he didn't? Was Shane upset with him for his lack of gentleness? Did his roughness scare him away?
Ilya had it all wrong, Shane was not put off by him in the slightest...Shane wanted more. But how could he ever say it to his face!
